Single Parent Rights is a single parent led group achieving great things. Here's a summary of just some of our key achievements to date.
Secured support bubbles for single parents during the covid lockdown of 2020
Contributed to the removal of the two child benefit limit
Helped secure the promise of Child Benefit eligibility rules being based on household income by April 2026, though sadly this wasn’t followed through on
Given key evidence to the Work and Pensions Select Committee on the impact of work conditionality on single parents
Gained the support of over twenty partners for our key Equality Act campaign
Been featured in over fifty pieces of print media and on over ten radio shows and national television news
Had over six motions of support passed by local councils and branches of political parties and unions
Enabled supporters to write letters to their MPs and Ministers on the Equality Act, UC work conditionality and parental leave
Published groundbreaking research into single parent discrimination, single parents and employment, single parents and Universal Credit work conditionality, single parents and housing and single parents and parental leave
Produced single parent inclusive HR policies for organisations and schools
Created advice for businesses that want to be inclusive of single parent families
Our research has informed Singled Out: The Truth About Single Parent Discrimination and What To Do About It, a new book into single parent discrimination, out in February 2027
